Basic Nutrition

  • 3 oz. of meat is the recommended portion for a meal . and is about the size of a deck of cards

    *note: many places serve 8 oz. portions, about the size of a small paperback book, and almost three times the recommended serving size!

  • Fish is slightly different, 3 oz. of that is about the size of your checkbook
  • 1 oz. of cheese is about the same size as 4 dice

  • 1 cup of pasta is about the size of a tennis ball

  • medium sized apple, orange or banana

  • 1 cup raw veggies or fruit is about the size of a baseball
